Maribell,
your earthly season is done
much too soon for consolation.
Our heart wrenched tears
bring no solace
in this despair
of those you touched
in your young years.That day,
in those few moments
that came and went,
so much was shattered
that for many
will never be rebuilt. The Mother Church speaks words
where only grief can reign.
The good father in priestly raiments,
trappings of a careless god,
rambles on about another death
some 2000 years ago
that numbs without relief,
speaking nothing to a tragic fate
that no one has explained. You were grace and light
revealed to those who knew you,
the pride of our community,
essence of youthful promise.
And now bereft
our souls flow on
as droplets to an ebbing tide.
Maribell was so real and died in her early twenties.
